There are so many activities to do here that you’re probably going to want to prepare a tentative plan so that you aren’t overwhelmed when you get here. In this blog post, we’ll be providing you with a few of the endless things to do in Fort Collins, Colorado, but this list is only scratching the surface so make sure to continue to follow our blog for more options. If you are looking to stay at our hotel two miles away from the historic old town, then please be sure to book your reservation today!
Walking Around Old Town
Established in the 19th century, you’re likely to hear echoes of the past. Our city prides itself on our rich history and has over twenty restored historical buildings. We recommend taking an entire day exploring the area, and to be honest, that might not even be enough time! With over 84 restaurants to treat your tastebuds, countless shops to browse, art everywhere you look, and even a fountain for the young ones to play in, it’s almost impossible not to have a smile on your face as you walk around.
There are also events held nearly every weekend including food festivals, the Tour de Fat (locals dress in costumes and ride their bikes around town, possibly a little bit tipsy), and several music events. Even if there is not a large event taking place, it will not be hard for you to find live music. Be sure to check out who is playing at the Aggie Theatre or Hodi’s while you are in town or look for some free live shows that are consistently taking place.
Take A Bike Ride
You will notice as soon as you arrive that Fort Collins locals have a strong affinity towards riding bikes. We are always ranked as one of the most bike-friendly cities. Nearly everywhere that you go you will notice that there is a bike lane for people to cruise. Not to mention the fact that there are hundreds of biking trails in the area that let you see the true beauty of nature in this place that we are proud to call home. You may be thinking that this won’t be an option for you because you won’t be packing your bike with you for your trip, but Solarium has you covered! We love biking as well, and we want our guests to really delve deep into the Fort Collins culture, so we have bicycles that you can rent! Ask one of our employees to recommend some of the best trails and areas that you can ride.
Did you think that drive-in theatres were a thing of the past? Not in Fort Collins! There are only 348 left in the United States, and we are proud to have one of them! So if you took a road trip here or have rented a car, don’t hesitate to go catch a flick outdoors in the comfort of your own vehicle.
Bicycles aren’t the only thing that we are obsessed with. If you’ve done any kind of research on Fort Collins or if you have been here before, we absolutely love our beer. With over 25 breweries in the city, your stay will certainly not be long enough for you to try all of the craft beers that we have to offer. Make sure to check out this list of breweries that we have, and make sure to add beer tasting to your list of things to do.
With such a vibrant and extensive history, it should come as no surprise that there have been many ghost stories that have become a bit of local legend. A favorite activity of visitors and locals alike is taking the ghost tour through Old Town. One thing that makes this tour is that there are actually tunnels underneath the city that were used over a hundred years ago. In fact, underneath the Walrus, it was used as a place for people to throw secret parties during Prohibition. There is so much to explore and so many spooky stories to hear so you want to add the ghost tour to your itinerary.
